Triple Crown Fall Classic! 11U Team Falls Just Short of Fall Tournament Title

After a successful championship spring season as our 10Uteam, the now division one 11U team participated in the NEAAU Fall Classic baseball tournament in Rhode Island in September. “It was a great way for us to integrate some of our new players onto the team, and begin the process of becoming a team for the remainder of our season,” Jay Housman said, assistant coach of the Triple Crown team. After a very successful first day which included a mercy rule of one of their opponents, getting to the championship game wasn’t as easy. The Kings went up against the tournament winners from last year and in a nail biter, the Kings dug themselves out of a 4-0 hole through 3 innings and came back to win in the bottom of the 6th inning 9-8 over the CT Mustangs. With not much time to rest before the championship game against a very challenging opponent, the RI Rays, The Kings battled into extra innings, nine full innings to be exact, before falling to the Rays 5-4. It was a game that started at 5:30pm and went well into the night. Just a hard fought battle. It was a great game. Too see the plays we saw at this age level and the heart and determination at this age level, was simply amazing. It was just great to be a part of it,” said Housman. While the end result wasn’t what they ultimately had hoped for, the Kings hope to build on that momentum heading into the spring season where they will defend their EBL Championship crown.
